Moving to a decentralised learning approach in an international organisation
The Lindner Group is Europe’s leading supplier – manufacturer and service provider – for the interior fit-out and building envelope, building services engineering and insulation. We are a true family business with a deep understanding for 'Building New Solutions', the development and implementation of custom-fit and advanced yet flexible project solutions and room concepts. With a workforce of more than 7,500, the company operates numerous production facilities and subsidiaries in more than 20 countries from our headquarters in Arnstorf, Germany.
Making knowledge accessible for a global workforce
The HR department initially centralised elearning creation with only two team members for a company of over 7,500 employees in 20 countries. Lindner needed a solution for better knowledge sharing and to enable all employees to create elearning content. They also faced challenges with sharing and digitizing older training materials. Additionally, there was a need for multilingual elearning due to their diverse international team.
Accelerating authors and elearning production with AI-powered content creation
Already having the imc Learning Suite (LMS) for some years, Lindner discovered imc Express. Lisa Obermeier, Human Resources Development at The Lindner Group explains "We tried it, and we were excited about using it! With imc Express it's very easy and all our experts can make a small learning content or create learning nuggets. It's a very intuitive tool to use.
Old training material such as Word or PowerPoint documents are very easily transformed into eLearning with imc Express. That's great. Teams really like being able to upload all their old learning content and do not have to re-write content from scratch. Users also really like the image search feature, which saves them lots of time.
"With imc Express we can also translate very easily. It's nice and means we no longer have the pain of using other manual translation methods. With imc Express it's very easy, very fast and we can make our knowledge accessible to everyone.
It's also very nice to see that our experts from all over the world are now using imc Express. It's great to see the co-creation that happens with this tool.
Everyone was very excited about using the tool, as they saw how easy it was."
New trainees + experienced expertise + AI = the perfect recipe for accelerating knowledge sharing
New employees in the Lindner Group were a key factor in the success of scaling elearning content. Training in the use of imc Express is given to all new trainees and as a result they take this knowledge into new departments and regions. The experience they gain with AI in the tool, combined with the experience and expertise of their department colleagues, is proving a successful collaboration for the development of elearning by all.
The AI capability imc Express has also been a big contributor to the buzz and usage around the tool. Lisa explains "The AI features are great to 'sell' to our employees. Everyone is really interested in working with AI. Also, it's a safe way to try AI. You can't do anything wrong (in the platform) and you can just experiment and test the different features. That's something that works well and interests our employees, especially the new ones."
imc Express helped significantly accelerate the creation of international learning content at Lindner, with the new authoring community producing more than 200 learning contents in 18 months. This has also resulted more frequent, collaborative communication between the L&D team and the subsidiaries and more engagement with imc Express and the LMS, which were goals for the organisation.
"We can feel the difference in the time that imc Express has saved us. Previously we were just producing elearning and now we are supporting colleagues in more decentralised way."
